DAY 1 - Castle Mountain, AB/ Fernie, BC (Ski day 1) Depart Calgary early as MM aims to have you at Castle Mountain Resort, BC around 10-11am. This is to make sure you make the most out of your first day hitting the slopes. Castle is a lesser known resort which means virtually no people to contend with. Home to dry powder, amazing fall line and small town hospitality; Castle will leave you wanting more. Depart for Fernie, where you will be staying the night and riding the next day. Downtown accommodations ensure the best local options for food and drinks.
DAY 2 - Fernie, BC (Ski day 2)
Today is a great opportunity to really build your confidence up. Your second day of riding and 1st day at Fernie. Remember we have guides at every location to get the most out of your riding. When your legs have had enough, go and soak in one of the hot tubs or pools that the hotel has on offer. Back sore?? How about a massage?! This is your final night in Fernie, so let's make sure we have a good time! Let's start at the brewery and go from there.
DAY 3 - Fernie/Nelson, BC (Free Day)
Today is your first free day to decide what YOU want to do! Choose from a large selection of on mountain activities ranging from fat biking to cross country skiing. There is always the option of hitting up the resort again. Explore the 5 alpine bowls this epic place has to offer. We plan to depart Fernie mid afternoon, to ensure we arrive at Nelson at a reasonable time. Its about a 4 hr trip with a couple of stops along the way. Nelson will be your home for the next 4 nights. This beautiful town is home to amazing food, culture and a very under-rated resort called Whitewater. Your hotel is right on main street meaning a short walk will bring you to a wide selection of restaurants, cocktail bars and craft breweries.
DAY 4 - Nelson, BC (Ski Day 3)
Today is all about indulgence. First, after a hearty cooked breakfast at your hotel, you experience Whitewater. This small little ski resort is anything but, if size was determined by its snow fall. It averages over 40ft of snow a year! The runs here are shorter, but that just means you get to do more of them. Amazing snow and some of the best natural features a ski hill has to offer. The food at the resort is also world class, with Whitewater Café even having its own bestselling cook book. Back in Nelson after some shower and hot tub action, MM takes you into town to experience the amazing food this cute little town has to offer. Join MM for dinner or explore by yourself. One suggestion is Cantina, for tacos and margaritas. Backroads and Torchlights are 2 of the local breweries MM will show you.
DAY 5 - Rossland, BC (Ski Day 4)
Voted the #1 ski town in North America, today is your chance to see why. Has to be lived to be believed! It is all here. Kids ski to school while throwing back flips over their teacher’s cars. Olympians have been born and raised here. 4200 acres of pristine skiing. Called ‘The last great, unspoiled resort’. So amazing it has become legend. Some of the best glades in the North America, as well as 360 degree skiing from the top, oh and $10 "Cat Runs" on a new mountain they are developing next door. I know it sounds fake, but we can assure you this place exists. The only problem you will face is leaving this rad resort!
DAY 6 - Nelson, BC (Free Day)
Today is up to you. Ride either Whitewater or Red again, take a rest day or maybe even Cat-skiing. The team at Big Red Cats and Valhalla are two local companies that do day trips. We suggest if you are interested in this, you pre-book ahead as many days are booked up months in advance.
DAY 7 - Nelson/Revelstoke, BC (Hot Springs)
Today we sleep in. Explore this beautiful little town before we depart for Revelstoke. Depending on the weather, it could be a great opportunity to even take a scenic flight over the Valhallas and along Kootenay Lake. On our drive to Revelstoke, we stop at Halcyon Hotsprings. A good chance to rest your legs in the healing waters of BC. Enjoy this scenic drive through the mountains before arriving in Revelstoke. We stay here for 2 nights at the Valley Retreat. An amazing Bed n Breakfast right at the base of the hill and the perfect place to rest up for tomorrow. Revelstoke is huge and fast becoming the adventure capital of Canada.
DAY 8 - Revelstoke, BC (Ski Day 5)
Revelstoke Mountain Resort is on the menu today. This place has to be seen to be believed. The biggest vertical in North America (1713m), 3121 acres (only 7% beginner, but you are ready!), 4 alpine bowls and 15.2km run. This place is fast getting a reputation as a dream destination. On powder days you will see locals lining up at 7am to get first tracks while cooking their breakfast in line over camp stoves. When you see this happening, you know it must be good. The terrain is hard to beat, giving you runs that would compete with most available at Cat-Skiing operations when fresh. Let one of our local snow hosts show you those secret stashes of snow or give you the tips you need to conquer this behemoth. When you can't ride on your jelly legs anymore, après drinks are a must. Head to the Village Idiot; the true locals pub in town, giving you a chance to socialize with true shredders or maybe even bump into some pros that are filming in the region.
DAY 9 - Revelstoke/Golden, BC (Free Day)
Today we let you decide what to do. Revelstoke is the perfect place for it as there are so many options when it comes to winter activities! Go snowmobiling in some of the best terrain available anywhere. Head out Cat-skiing as this is offered straight from the resort. If you are feeling extra adventurous we can even sort out a day of heli-skiing for you if seats are available. Too much energy? How about some back country skiing and tour up Roger Pass with a third party certified ACMG guide, or you can come out and conquer the mountain with us again. Whatever you do just make sure it’s epic! We drive over the incredibly scenic Rogers Pass for Golden this evening. For the next two nights we will be staying at Homelodge, a beautiful ranch style BnB where we have the whole place to ourselves.
Some members of the tour will be leaving us here as they opted for the shorter 9 day option.
DAY 10 - Golden, BC (Ski Day 6)
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. The champagne powder capital of Canada. Steep and Deep, this is the perfect location to see how far you have progressed. They don’t get much bigger than this! If you can stop skiing or snowboarding long enough, you can enjoy lunch in the highest restaurant in the country. The views will not disappoint. A maple bacon caesar or a pulled pork poutine are local favourites!
DAY 11 - Golden, BC/Banff, AB (Free Day)
Another ‘you’ day. If you want to head back to Kicking Horse and try and wrangle one of their many gnarly chutes, we will be more than happy to take you. You can also try your hand at some snowmobiling or even just sleep in and take advantage of the beautiful location of Home Lodge. At the end of the day we depart for Banff with a stop at world famous Lake Louise for pictures. We will be staying right on the main strip of Banff, allowing you to take advantage of a bustling night life with over 100 restaurants, bars and clubs to choose from.
DAY 12 (Ride Lake Louise)
Wake up! This is your last day riding! Lake Louise is the perfect place for it. With world class riding and facilities this place will surely be hard to leave. Rip up the alpine slopes with views of the glacier on Mt. Temple, or challenge the chutes of Eagle Ridge. Tonight we have our last dinner together so we’ll be sure to make it a good one. The first round of drinks is on Mountain Movements to say thanks for making the trip so enjoyable.
DAY 13 (Free Day) – Departure
Today is up to you. Its your final day so make it count. Dogsledding is our number one suggestion as the local company Snowy Owl is the best in the business. Maybe ride a local hill like Norquay or Sunshine village. Banff is also a hot spot for shopping so you may want to buy some gifts for back home.
You may wish to continue west and venture to the coast or even Whistler. The option of joining us for the drive back to Calgary is always available. You may even want to join our 7 day Powder Highway tour which departs from Calgary in 4 days or add on a weekend of cat skiing at Castle Mountain. All arrangements can easily made right up until departure. Whatever your plans, we are more than happy to accommodate them.
The tour is over but the journey may go on. Allow us to provide a complimentary shuttle to the airport. If you want to stay in the Banff area longer we can help sort out accommodations, lift passes, and a local host subject to availability.
Whatever your plans, Mountain Movements are more than happy to help you out.
